To get to the Thunder River cave you must climb up the side of Thunder River Falls and climb in above where the water pours out. From there, you must continue scrambling, sometimes through some tough spots, until you find a dry passage. This passage parallels the cliff along the right site of the falls (when viewing the falls from the outside). At one point there is a small passage on the right that leads to the opening depicted here. This opening is quite visible from Thunder River Trail, although it is isolated since it is in a vertical cliff. Although I've been in Thunder River Cave a few times, I only found this opening once.
