Closest encounter with a large male, maybe 1300 pounds. A moment later, he passed close enough that I couldn't hold focus with the lens I was using. Talk about adrenaline. Had he not been so clearly relaxed and fully aware of us, and simply transiting to chase salmon just past our position, I'd have been scared, rather than just tense.
